Prof. John Hewson is one of Australia’s most experienced economists, financial experts, and company directors, with a diverse career spanning politics, business, and academia. A former Leader of the Liberal Party and Leader of the Opposition from 1990 to 1994, Dr Hewson entered politics after serving as an advisor to two Federal Treasurers. After leaving politics in 1995, he built a successful career in investment banking and corporate leadership, holding senior roles as Chairman of The John Hewson Group Pty Ltd, Global Renewables Ltd, Universal Bus Company Pty Ltd, and several other prominent organisations. Dr Hewson is also a member of the Advisory Council for ABN AMRO Australia and sits on the board of the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.

In addition to his business achievements, Dr Hewson has remained dedicated to environmental and sustainable development issues, chairing the National Business Leaders Forum on Sustainable Development and participating in waste recycling and methane extraction initiatives. His earlier career included influential positions with the International Monetary Fund, the Reserve Bank of Australia, and the University of New South Wales. Awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in 2001 for services to business, economics, and the community, Dr Hewson continues to offer valuable insights into economics, politics, and sustainable business practices on a global scale.
