Mr Khalil (Charlie) Shahin AO is a prominent Australian businessman and the eldest son of Fred Shahin, founder of Peregrine Corporation. Established in 1984 with a single BP service station in Adelaide, Peregrine has since grown into South Australia’s largest privately-owned employer, generating over $2.9 billion in annual revenue and employing more than 5,000 people. The company’s extensive retail operations include fuel and convenience store franchises as well as Krispy Kreme outlets, making it the state’s largest retailer. Peregrine also boasts a significant commercial property portfolio, holding landmark sites in Adelaide’s CBD, including Rundle Mall and North Terrace.

In 2015, Peregrine expanded into motorsports by redeveloping the former Mitsubishi Motors test site into The Bend Motorsport Park and acquiring Mallala Motor Sport Park in 2017. Charlie Shahin was honoured as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2017 for his contributions to business, corporate social responsibility, and multicultural community support. Actively involved in philanthropy, he has served as a director of the Shahin Charity Trust since 1995, supporting programs from educational initiatives to aged care for the Islamic community.
